Star Wars Outlaws May Not Release on Steam Platform

On the official Star Wars Outlaws webpage, a keen eye might notice something missing in the ‘Platforms’ section at the bottom—there’s no mention of Steam. The game is confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but the only PC platform listed is ‘Ubisoft Connect,’ Ubisoft’s own PC gaming service and storefront.

Ubisoft Connect functions similarly to the Xbox PC storefront, serving as a hub for Ubisoft to distribute its PC titles directly to consumers, positioning itself as a Steam rival. It’s also available on mobile platforms, allowing Ubisoft to release its mobile games directly.

While this omission isn’t a definitive sign that Ubisoft plans to forego a Steam release for Star Wars Outlaws, it certainly raises the question. We’ve contacted Ubisoft for further information on this matter and will provide updates as soon as we have them.

With Star Wars Outlaws’ release set for 2024, there’s time for Ubisoft to address the distribution details for the PC version. The game is being marketed as the “first-ever open-world Star Wars game,” promising to explore new dimensions of the Empire’s interaction with criminal elements.

I hope the missions are all like the demo. If I fail stealth, it leads to a big chase or a wrong choice that can get you chased off the planet.
